Coronavirus Grants

Coronavirus business support grants

Business Support

Wiltshire council have announced three additional discretionary grants. We operate in the region of Wiltshire council so the links below are to Wiltshire council website, if you operate in a different region i.e Bath then you will need to apply through Somerset council’s website.

The value of these discretionary grants

Depending on the discretionary grant available to you, you could receive an amount from £500 to £3,000 depending on the number of employees you have.

What are the three grants available?

1. My business has a business rates account and is closed due to national restrictions
Where your business has closed you will be applying to option 1 and you will receive a grant of around £1300 for the 4-week closure. This will continue if your business is forced to shut again in the future.

2. My business has a business rates account but does not have to close, however, it has been impacted
If you have not closed your premises you will be applying to the discretionary fund option 2. Receipt of a grant is not guaranteed and varies from £500 to £3000 depending on the number of employees you have.

3. My business does not have a rates account, but it has been impacted by Coronavirus
If you do not have premises but have been impacted by COVID you will be applying to the discretionary fund option 3. Please be aware this is an option for our director only Ltd company clients. There is £500 available for those of you who cannot trade which is paid on top of the furlough payments.

Please go Here to apply for each of these schemes.

Applications must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 18 December 2020 for options 2 and 3.

Define ‘Impacted’

Impacted is not defined by the council nor HMRC, however if you answer yes to any of the questions below, we could argue that you were impacted. This is however our opinion, and should you believe you are impacted for a different reason you will need to contact the council as they will be able to help further.

  1. Are your sales lower than in 2019? Have you lost customers due to COVID.
  2. Have you had to purchase additional equipment to operate during COVID.
  3. Has work been delayed due to supply issues or postponed by customers?
